You have to cook everyday, and you don’t want to use produce that’s been sitting around since Saturday. Wednesday is the perfect day to head back to the market. Its midweek, you can come after work- the market starts at 3:00. There’s food and music. It’s a great place to shop or relax on the grass.
With that in mind, the Port Townsend Farmers market is proud to announce the re-opening of its Wednesday afternoon market from 3-6pm, uptown, on Polk between Lawrence and Clay. “We’ve got a great mix of farmers and food” proclaimed market director Will O’Donnell.
The Wednesday market is a farm and food only market, no crafts. Market Director Will O’Donnell explained that it’s generally a more relaxed slower paced market than Saturday’s festival like atmosphere. Many of the same growers from the Saturday market will be there, like Red Dog farm, Midori, Colinwood, Dharma Ridge, Finnriver, Old Tarboo. Pane D’Amore, Mt. Townsend Creamery, will all be in attendance.
The Port Townsend Farmers market is now offering a free ATM service at both the Wednesday and Saturday markets. Customers wishing to use the service can swipe their credit or debit card and receive $20 market tokens. They can be spent at any market vendors stand and change will be provided.
“Some people have been keeping the tokens as a souvenir,” O’Donnell explained. “The tokens have a little color picture of Flora, our mascot, and they say IN FLORA WE TRUST. They have been popular. I just keep trying to tell people it’s a free ATM, which is practically an endangered species.”
O’Donnell also wanted to remind customers that the market accepts food stamp or EBT Quest Cards. “We have worked to make more food choices available. Its much easier to use your EBT card at the market now.”
