Our Local Food Heroes!
Three businesses on the Olympic Peninsula have won the Local Food Heroes award sponsored by Edible Seattle magazine. Voters from around Puget Sound selected their choices in several different categories. The “Market” award went to the Chimacum Corner Farmstand, “Beverage Artisan” award to Finnriver Cidery and “Farmer” to Nash Huber.  More info here

Will Allen came to PT, it was awesome.
Will Allen, 62, has been the subject of numerous articles, including a long profile in the NYT, and was one of Time Magazines's 100 most influential people in 2010.  He runs Milwaukee's Growing Power Inc. His main 2-acre Community Food Center houses 20,000 plants and vegetables, thousands of fish, plus chickens, goats, ducks, rabbits and bees.  He visited the Port Townsend Farmers Market Saturday Sept 17th
